TAYLOR!
exposure 1 – prototype

by CW&T

A fixture for a standard F40T12 fluorescent tube light. The piece intentionally exposes the ballast, wires and electrical outlet required for the light to operate.

The light plugs directly into an outlet, requiring a user to plug and unplug to turn it on and off.

.

A fluorescent light fixture is not meant to call attention to the ballast hidden inside of it that is required to operate. Most people don’t even know it is there or that standard household electricity needs to be altered in order for a fluorescent light to work. Is it possible to expose the ballast as part of the fixture so that it adds aesthetic value and also acknowledges its technological inner workings?
